voodoo4

I read reviews and everything I have a 32mb voodoo4 with a p4 1.8 ghz processor on 768 dsl through a lynksyss router (I'm plugged directly in, but it's a wireless G) and 512 mb or ram, but I'm gettin 30-40 fps on Counterstrike is this normal? I think it may be my drivers, but I've tried custom ones that didn't make a difference, also the amigarelin SP? or w/e I get errors on the install, the computer restarts and my resolution is at 640x400 and at 4 bit colors? If anyone could tell me my porblem it'd be much appreciated or if it is a driver problem could anyone link me to the good ones?

 

type this in teh console of CS "ma x_fps 200" or it might be "fps_max 200" so it tells your vid card, that it cant go higher than 200fps.

 

wait what? I already knew that command, but I can't go any higher than 30-40 fps it'll jump to 60 sometimes, but nothing more.

 

im not sure how that smiley got there.... It might just be ur card, its not very good.

 

but like I said I read reviews and it said it's a great card for those games, I really think it's a driver conflict, I'm not sure could you point me towards good ones?

Maybe five years ago, but certainly not now.

And certainly not for a Pentium 4 1.8.

 

yah that's wwhat I mean a great card for CS and for quake 3 that's all I want to play right now on that computer.

 

He's talking about Counterstrike. NOT Source... (I assume) You know, the game that came out more than 5 years ago; the game that would run on a P2 233Mhz Processor with a 12Mb Voodoo2 video card.

A P4 and Voodoo4 should be plenty good enough to run CS.

Have you always had this problem? Or is it recent? It may be that you just haven't found a good WinXP driver for that card. Perhaps one doesn't exist. I don't know which drivers you've tried, but www.voodoofiles.com has a few.

Also, try running the game in software rendering (rather than Direct3d or OpenGL). See if you get better fps.

 

thank you someone finally sees what i'm saying , I tried some on voodoofiles , but some are weird and most lead me to errors do you know any good ones? Also if I have to put it in software mode it makes me left handed automatically in the game.

 

to change back to right handed press "h" search through the small amount of options and click "use right hand" BTW, what is a server u regular on? I might have to drop by and show you how its done! (server IP i mean)

 

That card is good enough to run Counter Strike, which was released around the same time as the original Half Life.

I just took exception at the "great card" bit.

 

I don't play constant CS servers I switch around because I don't play all that much.... as for the hand thing you should try it yourself you cant switch to right in software mode I already tried along time ago when I first got it.

 

software mode? You mean NOT using Steam? Thats al i use... Im a regular on a clan server( a Custom map server AND a Cal/CEVO server) I also run my own server when i wanna do 1v1.

 

!? software mode is software rendering, for the graphics. You HAVE to use steam to play online they don't have WON anymore where you can play off the CD from a looonng time ago.
