    Hi, Geeks!
I'm having some trouble uninstalling Vopt 9! I have tried all the usual fixes starting with the Windows uninstall list, then using the Revo Uninstaller, Then trying to just delete the files by using the uninstall.exe in the program folder. I've been into the registry to check the folders, but I am afraid to mess around too much there without knowing exactly what I'm doing.

I installed about 35 days ago, so the trial has ended. I'd like to get it since it is very good, but I can't afford it right now.

I am running an updated Windows XP SP3 on an HP D330. The error message reads as follows in all cases: First the uninstaller starts normally, then pops up a small dialog reading: "Unable to locate Uninstall.log". The log is right there in the file folder where it should be. I have opened it in notepad and it reads in clear text, listing all the file folders the installer creates, and the files in them in the order it created them. Looks OK to me, but maybe some flag is missing. The file is not read-only or anything stupid like that.

I have read all the pertinent threads here at MG. I've tried everything I know about, but no joy. Anybody got any ideas?

When you installed vopt did it have a uninstall feature or did you uninstall it using revo and or add and remove.

    Try this link...Windows installer cleanup

I used three methods in succession. First, I tried add & remove, then I tried Revo, & last, I tried it's own uninstaller. All three gave me the same error:
"Could not find Install.log" . Nevertheless it was present in the installed folder and seemed to read OK in Notepad. Unless the .log file is corrupted or somehow flagged wrongly, I can't see anything wrong with it.

I did send an e-mail to Golden Bow, the company which makes it, but I have, as yet, received no reply.

Boot it in safe mode and then try to delete it.
Also download and run Ccleaner . They have a registry option you can run also (back up the registry first) that may delete rouge registry items.

Thanks, Buggabear! That's one thing I didn't try. I will right now and get back soon.

I know this seems like it's going backwards but can you re download the program. Let it integrate itself with the first program then try to uninstall it again. Maybe this time it will take all the program out.
    Just a thought

Tried it, already!! I am at a dead stop on this thing! I'm going to have to remove it by hand, if I can't get an answer from Golden Bow. And that will involve messing about in the registry, which I hate. You can never be sure you've erased everything. I mean, I know enough to back it up first, so I won't completely do Windows in, but I really think that an uninstaller should WORK!
Thank you for all your ideas, BTW!:) Your quick response to my problem is why I love this forum and its members. :major:-D

Trials won't uninstall by design (this is true of programs and games). If trials did uninstall cleanly, everyone would download the trial, uninstall it and then reinstall and use it again. Golden Bow wants money for using Vopt9. Your only option is to eventually purchase it then you will be able to install or uninstall it at will.

Ok, I see. That makes sense. I guess I'll just delete the folder and everything I can find in the registry, and purchase it when I get the coin. Not that the program is doing any harm right where it is. Funny, though, its the first time such a thing has happened. And I've had a lot of trials on my machine.

    Thanks for the tip!
