VPN Questions

I am interested in setting up a VPN. However, I am not very well versed in what options are available and how secure those options are. I have found an open source VPN solution, but am concerned about whether it is really secure. Can anyone provide some recommendations on which softwares are the best?

I know a lot people are using 3rd party VPN clients especially are 64 bit platforms since Cisco doesn't have a 64 bit client app out yet. But not sure how secure or reliable. There has to be a lot of documentation on it though somewhere. I'd google it unless someone posts something on here.

 

Let me ask this question, what are you hoping to accomplish with this VPN. Depending what your hoping to accomplish I might be able to steer you in the right direction.

 

I have a small network on which a server will be hosting a webserver application. I would like at least be able to access this web service remotely. Security is very important as there are other sensitive items on the network. It is not necessary to be able to access the network from any computer, but only a few that can have software on them.

I would just use OPEN VPN it will secure your connection back to your server find it at. http://openvpn.net it is support on all platforms for windows, linux and mac

 

Do you know how secure opensource is? What vulnerabilities will we expose ourselves to? Thanks,
