W10 Backup After Upgrade

I upgraded to W10 on the last day and have not been able to do a successful backup. I bought a separate backup disk but the OS then says it wants the old back up disk. I deleted ALL the backups on the old disk and still no success. I went to Microsoft forum, lots of postings, none that I thought were helpful.

Has anyone seen this problem?
If so, how was it solved?

What backup software are you using and what are you wanting to backup - the OS partition or your personal files?

 

You can create a system image back-up in Windows 10 very easily and keep it on a USB pen drive

Sorry guys, I ended up with bigger problems and lost track of this issue. Backup (my opinion) should not be as hard and Windows 10 has made it out to be. I liked the way backup worked in Windows 7 but the same options are not available in 10. I am currently looking to get a third party backup system. I may use the program available in my Synology NAS. I am not sure what I want to do yet.

 

If you look at Control Panel > Backup and Restore it actually has Windows 7 in brackets after it. It is the same as it was in Win 7.

 

The W10 Backup feels like an Apple time machine wannabe. I used to backup weekly and unplug the backup disk off power and the net. this things wants you to leave backup plugged in all the time.
Anyway, I tried the backup as recommended by Max Turner above and after about 5 hours of working it failed (for about the fourth time since I moved to W10). SO I reformatted the disk.
I am considering other things now.
