Wake on LAN...

Hi guys not sure if this is the right section, if not i'll repost where directed.

I want to be able to wake my machine so I don't have to leave it on when I leave for the office.

Previous motherboards have had the option in the BIOS to enable wake on LAN. Typically i've never wanted the feature in the past. Now I can't seem to find the option on my current board now I want to use it.

The motherboard I'm using is a Gigabyte M85M rev 1.2. Is there a piece of software or a bios download I can get for this. I can't seem to make head nor tail from what google throws up.

You need 4 things, 1 computer, the software to WOL, and the PC that are you trying to awake is in the same Network and the Ethernet card have the option in BIOS to WOL.

I tried do that before but it didn't worked for me, i tried different computer models but no luck, maybe i'll try in this months.

There's a lot of free software to WOL, take a look on google.

 

I just glanced through the BIOS Setup section of the M85M's manual, and I don't see a WOL - however, you might look at the Smart LAN (in Integrated Peripherals) and the PME and Modem Ring (Power Management) sections, play around with them.

Minor correction: for the most part, that's true, but with the new DASH (Desktop and mobile Architecture for System Hardware) and SMASH (Systems Management Architecture for Server Hardware) technologies, remote and extra-network protocols are becoming more prevalent.
