Want to Buy External CD/DVD Drive for Laptop

Any suggestions or feed back on the newer external CD/DVD drives available?

I will be using it for multimedia purposes with a laptop.

 

I use a LiteOn ENAU108
It is recognized on all the computers I've plugged it into (7 out of the 8 at our house). They run Windows, 2K, XP (Home and Pro), Win 7 (Home Premium) and linux.

The exact model may longer be offered. I bought mine at NewEgg. I suspect any LiteOn brand slim/portable would work just as well.

Before you buy, google the brand and model because I have no idea how reliable that review site is. I usually do my own research and do not depend on what sites list as "fantastic".

 

Thanks, found it at new egg. Very reasonable. Looks like a good investment. Will check the other link first, but see no reason not to go with that one. Also, getting a larger size external hard drive from WD. You guys here at MG advised me on my first purchase, thanks for that too ! :drool

I have a LG for my netbook, that works. I only used it for when I did the back up on my machine, when I first got it. Other than that it has sat unused.

 

My best luck has been with ASUS (knock on wood, I've sold several at my shop and have yet to end up with a DOA or warranty failure). They're competitive on price and often have additional mfr. rebates available.
