    HI all
I want to connect 2 computers which are at a distance of about 60 feet approx. I have an adsl modem with one rj45 jack which i can connect to one of the computers near the modem to have internet access.
And the other computer is in the next house at a distance of about 60 feet.So if anyone can tell me what is the best and the cheapest way to connect these two computers.
    Thanks

60 ft. for wireless is pushing it, especially if there are walls in between. do either of the systems have wireless cards? Do they even have a wired NIC? need more info, OS's on each etc.

HI guys thanks for the reply.

60 feet is the distance we are looking at , yes there are 4 walls between the two computers and i am looking for a cheaper option something like using an Ethernet cable between the two computers.
The OS on the two computers is Windows XP Professional , i thought of using the ICS first but need to have wireless card on both the systems.(also the distance is an issue)
What i am really looking for is a solution like a hub or switch which i can use with the ADSL modem and connect the two computers with the switch/hub.

So please help me with this.
    Thanks

in this case you're going to need a router to give out DHCP to each PC. Most wireless routers have 4 ports on them so you can go either way.

Wired routers are easy to set up and a lot more secure than a wireless network.
If you don't plan on adding a laptop, I would not go wireless.
If you don't know much about setting up a network, this app does most of the work for you.

Hey guys thanks for the information
I think i will be going for the wired option as i have found a 4 port broadband router so that should do the job.

In case anything weird happens be ready to answer some other questions from me.

    Thanks
