I am running Windows XP on a Compaq Presario with a CD Writer. There are a lot of art files I don't use constantly but don't want to delete them because I will probably use them in the future. They are mostly zip files. I want to burn them onto a cd to store them but need to know how to go about it. First, do I need to extract the folders from the zip file? And where do I open them to burn? Or will the cd writer only burn music and video files? I have an older computer with Windows ME on it that I haven't used in years. Should I just email myself the files and open them on the older machine? It has Nero on it and I used it to copy anything when I used the old computer. I would hate to have to delete the files, but I have almost 70MB in just one folder and with several folders I really need to free up the space.

Just try a program such as CDburnerXP. Install it then select Make a Data Disc. Add your zipped files and burn. http://www.cdburnerxp.se/help/Data/compiledata I would choose the option to finalize disc. Leaving a disc open to add more files sounds good but makes the disc hard to read on some systems. Splurge and finalize the disc! :p Before deleting the originals test the newly burnt disc in both computers. Insert disc open My Computer and your CD drive letter and drag one of your zips onto the desktop and unzip it. If it works ok you can delete the originals.

If the pictures are valuable burn two copies to be safe before deleting. There are other programs you could try if you don't like CDburnerXP let us know how you make out with it.
