    Hi there,

    My specs are:

    P4 D 3ghz (dual core)
    2x2 mb L2 Cache
    200gb SATA II 7200rpm 8mb cache
    2 gig 2600 ram
    DVD/CD rw

What would be a good graphics card for this machine?
I want to play new games if my pc will support it.
    I know i'll need a new psu.

    Nice site btw

    Cheers,

    Stoff

    Welcome to MajorGeeks! :wave

Need a little more information about your current computer. What kind of slot do you have for a video card? AGP? PCIe... If you are not sure, list the brand and model number of your motherboard. And how much do you want to spend? I am guessing you are using the onboard video.

    Thanks

I dont mind what i spend on the card, but i wanna keep the mobo/cpu.

I read that some cards need an extra power cable connected to it, i dunno if that comes from the mobo or the psu though so ill research.

    Thanks

Extra power comes from the PSU. Don't get cheap if you need a new PSU! :cool

Are you upgrading from the onboard video?

Yeah i got on board intel extreme2 or something.
Its runs Serious sam2 at 1024 with max settings.
Pretty much that same as my old radeon 8500 did on my old machine.
Ill get a decent psu too.

I think ill go with what you suggested, id be happy if i can play HL2 and
Doom3. Is that expecting too much?

    Thanks Fred_G
