My old dell dimension 5100 as i have just bought a new laptop. I Installed an extra 1tb sata hdd but want to wipe everything from both drives tn ensure nothing relating to me is left, files and pics etc. Figure its easier to wipe everything than risk missing things by searching. Whats the best way or program to do this? Im a complete novice as this was my 1st pc. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Will this just completely delete everything without being able to get it back? Im guessing that it will also remove all programs?

When he says "everything" this could include the Recovery Partition, should you have one. If you are planning to give it to charity, or sell it, having an OS on board would help the next owner quite a bit.

Make sure you are only wiping the Primary/OS partition if you don't have install discs...

BTW, just a heads up, I collect e-waste and build/refurbish old hardware for people who need it.

I even take what people are willing to ship via USPS.
