Hey gang. When I get a system tray popup notice (new mail, scanning, etc...) while I am playing Warcraft, the display flickers like a strobe as the two struggle with each other for my attention. Most specifically Outlook, even after I exit (not just minimize) the application, continues to poll the mail servers and causes the system try notification on a regular basis.

I assume that this is tied to the operating system's ability to tell me how many unread messages I have on the login screen, but I have found no way to disable the feature. Can I? It is quite distracting while gaming of any sort and particularly so during Flight Sim or WoW.

    Thanks In Advance,
    Rick

    Hi, Halo...

Sorry for the delayed response. I have the email notifications off. The issues is the notification that Outlook is contacting the mail servers (and the consequent virus scan, but that's another issue). These notifications appear only when the Outlook window is closed (minimized) or the application is not actually running (File, Exit).

As I let my last post wander the barren plain that sometimes represents my brain, I had an "aha!" moment. Turned off the notifications in the anti-v app and problem solved. Thanks for your reply Halo, as it made me think it through myself. Have a great day!
