So when I bought my PC my mom insisted I get a extended warranty and I did but now I'm having second thoughts on it usefulness since I am going to be upgrading it.

I could use some advice on if I should keep it or refund the money and put it towards the upgrades I would like to get.

Here is the warranty through NewEgg http://www.newegg.com/HelpInfo/ExtendedWarranty.aspx

    Thank you.

If you are going to upgrade it, then you have to do it fast. If you are going to leave it a while then get a refund. Personally I would get a refund anyway.

Not sure what time frame they are talking about here, I would think 30 days.

Mind you, it also says :

    Which is pretty general.

Edit: Although that last one could be refering to what they are not willing to do. Meaning they send you the bits, although it also states they may replace with Refurbished parts too.
I hate these things and am willing to take the risk just to not have to deal with it LOL

Well here is the thing I get my new PSU Monday and that was all I was planning to do so if it was within 30days that would become useless for the the next upgrade I want to get.

I was planning on getting a better graphics card later this year but if I refund my warranty I could easily get one sooner.

Yeah I don't even know if I want to deal with it at all I might just refund for that. lol

Parts dying is one thing, installation damage is another.

Changing a PSU is a pretty major change, its not like adding a video card or an extra stick of memory,if you did change it all your warranty would void including the standard newegg warranty, lots of computers have warranty void stickers between the psu and the case so they know if its been removed,if you did do it you'd have to be sure to put everything back the way it was in case of a return.

If I were you at this juncture I'd send the whole thing back telling newegg it doesn't work and get a better computer with a larger PSU that has good up grade potential, its a PITA,you'll have to re-box everything and you won't have a computer for a while so don't kid yourself, bite the bullet.

When you get a cheap box with the goal of upgrading the video card to make a gaming box the one thing it needs is a decent psu,if it doesn't you have to replace it straight away because its shutting off or there have been lots of complaints about the PSU then the whole venture doesn't make much sense.

The right thing isn't always the easi? The right road isn't always the eas? The path of the rightious ma?

    Return the computer.:-D

    I cannot refund the computer.

And I have a new PSU on the way.

Also even though I am a computer noob I have changed a PSU before all though it was on an older machine. It was an interesting experience though a little scary kept thinking I would either shock myself or fry the components. Thankfully I had a computer I could use to get some basic instructions but they were also super cautious which made even me more scared about being shocked:-o.

Nah its all low voltage, its stops being AC about an inch inside the psu.

Well like I said in the other thread it's up to you:)

Well then one less thing to hurt myself with.

Guess there really isn't a point in the extended warranty. Good thing I can actually refund that.

Not sure if this helps, but we just had our 23" LCD monitor crap out two weeks out of the one year warranty and had to buy a new one, so stuff like this does happen. Dell had even been sending emails and calling asking if we wanted to extend the warranty in the past couple weeks but we didn't think we'd need it. Doh!

Well It's no so much how useful it can be but rather the fact I upgrade my PC which I plan on doing. It will void the warranty not much point in that.

    Got my warranty refunded! =)

Also got my new PSU installed it's up and running great. Very quiet unlike the side fan lol might look into picking up a quieter fan actually might pick up a few and replace the two 120mm and put another in if I get a pack deal.
