Was I Wrong In Uninstalling Software Just To Reduce Processor Load?

Hi, My Windows 10 Pro, 32-bit, dual core, Intel Pentium E2180, 4GB RAM, PC has been showing frequent 100% processor utilisation and at this time, runs slowly. I got an interrupt report from my always-on Avast software showing me 3 programs responsible for current poor performance. So I uninstalled 2 of these - Dropbox and Wise Care. Was this a wrong move as I do use these products occasionally? Should I have found somewhere to disable these while leaving them installed? Would this possible action have removed their load from my processor? Can anyone kndly tell me where I should perform a "disable" if appropriate? I find Task Manager and msconfig confusing. My objective would be for such programs to load when called, but not form any load at most times when inactive? Thanks in advance for your advice. Geoff.

You could have left them installed and Just make them that they don't load up at boot. this would take your CPU usage down.

Start with Task Manager > Start>up tab, where you can disable most programs that start at boot. Don't disable your security software though

Easier way - so you can see exactly what starts, and is still there when you call on it- Go to settings and you will see the following route
like I have -my system set up looks like this
