i just installed doom 3, its really anoying taht i have to stick the disk one to play. is tehre a fix to this so i dont have to do taht...

Use GoOOooOGly and find a "no CD patch" for your game version.

 

well i downloaded that new doom3.exe and i replaced it with the original. well
it does not work i get an error instalation window..so is tehre another way?

Well, you can rip the Doom3 CD to disk using somthing like CloneCD, then using Daemon tools to emulate copy protection. Basically, it means you're running the CD from your hard drive using a "virutal" CD drive.

No more messing about with hacked game executables

 

No CD patches can be buggy, and you have to make sure that you have the correct one for your version.

Try another "brand" No CD Patch, or using emulation as above is another option, but personally I think that is too much hassle, but it's very subjective.

It's up to you.

 

hehe well i downloaded the patch for doom3 and then tried and swaping the
.exe files and it worked nomore cd.

Im Too Lazy To Take My Starcraft And My Broodwars CDS Out Of My Cd Drive And Burner, So You Know What I Did, I Bought A Second CD Drive and A DVD Burner....Now I Never have to take out the CDS Yay!!!

There are plenty of things bad about it.

Wear and tear on your drive, which is completely unnecessary.

That's made even worse by leaving the disc in as it needlessly scans the CD everytime the computer reboots.

Having to search through dozens of CD's for the correct one just to play, etc etc.

It's completely unnecessary and a pain in the rear end.

I can't think of one decent reason to not use "no CD patches".

 

Well...those i guess are all legitimate reasons...and I wasnt trying to question anyones motives...although it sounded like it...I was just pointing out that I use the cd (its also another post towards my rank teehee) ...but, the no-cd cracks are good for those reasons...but what about the corruption of files! plus viruses you can get from downloading them. Anyways...I just dont like it because I downloaded one for my Enter The Matrix and it messed my ETM up and I had to reinstall it and I lost my saved files oh well....its up to you guys!

 

What corruption of files?

Most patches make backups of the files they patch, usually the executable, and I always save the original executable anyway to permit updates etc.

As far as viruses, I've never had one from a no CD patch, and all files that are downloaded to your computer should be automatically scanned by a Anti-Virus program anyway.

I've been using them for years and have never had a problem.

Each to their own.

If you don't want to use them, that's your call, but someone asked a valid question, which we answered.
