    i got a kenmore Heavy Duty 70 series. its a direct drive system no belt.
    Well the Direct drive coupler has gone out and i dont know how to get the motor disconnected from the Tranny. from what i can tell there are 2 bolts that hold the motor to the tranny (cupler in between) well i cant get to the bolts because of the copper and cover on the motor and i was wondering if anyone here knows how i can get it apart to get to the direct drive coupler.

    LMAO @ star.... nice comparison. N56: That looks about right to me, but I am just a weekend handyman, and would probably use a similar link.

    @star17:

    and here I am thinking that if you couldn't figure out how to fix a washing machine with all those big brains there, should you really be doing rocket science?

    both my bruv AND my hubby are capable of stirpping a washing machine down to its component parts and rebuilding it, with improvements, yet still claim they dont know how to operate it. i think they should start making 'man-freindly' machines designed specifically for the domestically challenged. maybe if it looked less like a computer and more like a car? there could be for example an ignition switch and 'gears' to go from 'poodling' to 'turbo' according to the amount of dirt. what do you think? happy aloha friday.

    LOL...you could actually take an old car and remove the engine.....lower a washer into it;s place, and they could operate it from inside the car. Emergency brake to stop it, level to pop the hood and get the washing out; hot and cold fan switches for different water temperature. I think it's a great idea laurie...even a Snap-on tool chest to put the clean laundry into. You could have one "car" for a washer, another "car" for the dryer, and yet another "car" for the dishwasher!!!! I always wondered why some people keep so many wrecks in their backyard ;)

    I'm not having a problem figuring out how to fix a washing machine, N56 is; I just posted a link for him and commented on the hi-tech/low-tech irony. But you knew that. ;)

    And yes, I really should be doing rocket science; the real world isn't enough of a challenge for me.

    I hope the 20 minutes you are referring to doesn't mean 20 minutes after you started the thread. That would mean you already had it fixed and I was wasting my time hunting down a possible answer for you. That would likely motivate me to get a title change for you. ;)
