    Hi

    If you can provide the exact model of your laptop and TV, that would be the easiest way to find the best quality connection you can use. If both have an S-Video port, that would probably be the way I would go.

    no my computer only has a rgp port.. its blue with the pinholes..
    and i have many tvs to choose from! but my laptop is the satellite l655

    That would be a VGA port. So you are looking to purchase a TV then to connect to it? If so, as long as you find a TV with a VGA port, using a VGA cable, you'll be good to go.

    Check out http://www.orb.com/

    They try to sell their OrbTV which connects to most any TV and streams the signal either via internet or local wifi.
    They also have a feature to use your game console or the like. I use a Wii.
    The connection software and connection is free. The only thing they're really selling is the TV connection, which is likely a better quality than going through the Wii, but if you already own a Wii or similar console you can try it out to see if you like it.

    @smiley1029,

    What you need is a cable like one of the ones listed here. It won't matter if your LT doesn't have the 2 screw holes on each side of the VGA port. Just plug in one end of the cable your LT and the other end into your TV that has the VGA port, you can screw that end into your TV if you wish. Male to Male cable.

    Nevermind, I didn't see that you have a TV with VGA.

    It might work OK, but I sent the link for a Super VGA cable which is capable of higher resolutions. See if Best Buy has a Super VGA cable. Also, that cable you sent a link for is only 4 feet long.

    cant u use those wires with the one end to plug in the headphone hole in laptop and other end that has the yellow white and red plugins for tv?? in addition to the vga wire

    One end will be (I think) 2.5mm mini-jack, the other end will be red and white RCA jacks. The yellow is the video component and you're using the sVGA cable for that.

    If the distance from your laptop to the TV is going to be more than 6 feet I would go with the SVGA cable. They are shielded from interference better than a VGA cable, but it's up to you.

    You need to enable the external monitor output on the laptop. It's likely a FN+ F1-12 (one of the F keys in conjunction with the FN key). It will probably have a [0] picture on it, kinda looks like a monitor. Or, you can probably activate it by going into your Windows screen options.
