Waterfox 16.0.1 installation directory warning

By default Waterfox 16.0.1 is installing to

Code:

Program Files\Waterfox Limited\Waterfox

where as previously it installed to

Code:

Program Files\Waterfox

Make sure to select Custom install and install it to the previous location (Program Files\Waterfox), otherwise default program functionality if set will be broken and any firewall/security rules pointing to the old location will no longer be valid.

 

Is that perhaps why I was getting 'Application not found' when clicking on any URL in an email message after installing Waterfox 16.0.1?

Setting Waterfox again as my default browser resolved the problem.

I also had to repin the Waterfox icon to the Taskbar.

 

Yes, that would be the cause.

Strangely, the test installer linked to at the Overclock forum around 3 days before the final release still installed by default to Program Files\Waterfox.
It might be worth checking with the developer if this change of directory was intentional and will be the norm for future releases.

 

I did post your finding with my earlier complaint about the error on the Overclock forum. We'll see if someone responds.
