.wav drivers missing?/flash no sound

Hi there, recently my computer crashed, and i needed to reinstall windows. Since then, embedded flash videos (in both IE7 and firefox) play video but not sound. i thought it may be a registry problem, so i googled it and people suggested adding waverdriver to the registry.. that did not work, neither did the many other "fixes" i have tried. I believe it is either a driver or registry problem or both, i thought i may get some help here as i have been helped before. feedback would be great..

 

will video/audio play with sound outside of your browser?

 

Thanks for the reply. Yes sound works in downloaded videos and Mp3 files. Is it worth posting a Hijack this log?
