Ok im having a major cooling problem...I have a Wavemaster Coolermaster case with:

    EPS 12 volt power supply Model Number p4ATX55f - 550w (www.gpb-jge.com)
    2x Corsais DDR2 XMS2 512 Ram
Asus P5GD2 Deluxe with 3.4 ghz chip
    ATI x700 video card
    Creative Labs Audigy2 ZS
Not sure on the heatsink fan type

Problem eing is that when the side panel of my case is on my CPU temp rises significantly to like 60C sometimes higher on idle. Right now under full load with the side panel off under full load i see at the highest 52C on Idle roughly 40C

Any ideas? Its been this way for like a month or so but if been just leaving the side panel off, I have pictures of my setup if anyone could use those to possibly further diagnose my problem...any ideas?

    I was considering a ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU 120mm 2 Ball Cooling Fan
or the coolermaster aquagate liquid cooling system but the problem seems to be air flow in the case not so much the heatsink...any ideas?

With that case you should have enough cooleing already, installed last PC I built was with one of those cases and they have 2x80mm fans in the bottom front pulling air over the HDs.. then 1x80mm next to CPU expelling air + whatever PSU fans you have generally expelling air.

yeah a pic may help of the inside...

Are all your cables neat and tidy as they do affect airflow around the case, as you have enough HD slots dont have them directly ontop of each other .. split them up have a 1 or 2 HD gap to allow the cool air to flow between them ( I do the same with a similar CM Alu case )

Did you build this yourself, did you install the CPU flush with HSF with a good thermal paste like Arctic Sliver ( Intel HSFs actually do a decient job )?

What are you using to measure temps? try using Everest Home ( Free ) and see what its says under Computer > Sensor?

interior pics...should help i hope lol i also replaced at a later time the top usb ports on the case with a fan

The inside doesnt look to bad at all, I would split the HDs up those to allow more airflow from the front fans to the motherboard tho, do you have a shot of the HD housing of the case and full motherboard? as the cables maybe able to be moved a bit to aid airflow slightly.

Check the orientation of the air from the fans Front should be sucking air in rear and top expelling out?

Having the side off is not really the best optimal option, also whats the ambient temps in the room that the PC is in, if thats warm then the pc will naturally increase in temps.. I try to keep the room @ around 18-19c which is not cold for me but does keep my CPU at around 40c ( temps are a little higher than I would like but I have 4 HDs in PC at present which increases temp a tad )

Do use that Everest app I mentioned above as it will give you another temp reading plus enter your bios as well as temps can be checked their ( do the check swhen the pc has been on for say an hour or so to get acurate-ish readings ) as I have known temp programs to give false high readings.. so this gives you more reedback using multiple checks..

I checked the fans and they are all working in the correct ventilation motion they should be, I also split up the harddrives like you mentioned now im going to put the side back on, what would you say an optimal temp should be idle and load?

OK once i put the side panel back on the computer settled to 51 C on idle...still 10 degrees higher than when i had the side off any ideas?

now since i have an extra side panel for my case should i cut out a neatly placed area and put like a fine mesh screen there? so the heatsink blows straight out while minimizing dust

Your CPU fan actually blows in (into the heatsink) rather than out (away from the heatsink). If you're feeling up to it, I would cut a hole on the spare side panel and fit a duct there, so that there is a direct intake path for cool ambient air to enter the case directly onto the CPU.

Also do you have a front intake fan? I think you'll find temps should drop further if you reroute the mess of cables towards the side of the case as they being strewn all over the middle is a major obstruction to airflow.

Alternatively, go for a watercooled setup. I went for it and temperatures are pretty decent now, especially under load. If you look at my signature, I've got an overclocked 3.2 Pres-HOT processor and it never goes above 45ºC under load (Torture test with Prime95 running for an hour). It sits at 36ºC on idle, with fans running at minimum RPM. Case temps idle at 26ºC and never goes above 27ºC under load.
