WD Portable

I have 120 Gig Western Digital USB Portable. Recently in 1 of my computers the main usage one it cannot find the driver for it. It used to be ok but has now developed this recognition fault. To date I have tried Windows Update/Driver Genius and several others but NONE of them will recognise as a driver fault. Altered settings in the Bios to no avail. It works OK on countless other Laptops/desktops. Their is no Driver at WD site as this is a plug and play and no additional driver required as already in situ on Win OS. Any ideas Geeks before I go totally bald. WD HD is a USB 2.0 device. All other USB plug/play work OK even a 350 GIG USB external.

Will the 120 gig install/be recognized on another machine?

 

Check for it in disk management. Get there by opening start>run>diskmgmt.msc. If your RUN command isn't enabled, just type RUN in the search box. Once you're in disk management, check for your WD 120GB. If it's there, ensure that there is a drive letter assigned.

 

Thanx for replies.. and Caliban I did say it has no probs being recognised in other machines. I tried a voltage change but that didn't fix, sure got me beat. Synopsis ... OK in other rigs so no prob with the HD, Driver up dates on this rig does not find a conflict, No conflict with 300 USB (external) so Mobo settings OK. Any further suggestions fellow Geeks. ????/ :zzz

So not in diskmgmt? What about pulling the data off of it and reformating it on one of the computers that does recognize it?
