WD3200AUDX drive not operating

I purchased this drive off eBay, installed it in a new build (below) and couldn't get it to format as it said I wasn't allowed to. So I put it into a external USB case, it booted but showed as a "removable device" and i cant even access the drive as it says "please insert a removable disk" when I try to open it. So I installed it in my computer I know works, same problems as before. Its being recognized in my bios and when I boot, but I just cant get it to format or access it or anything.

Any ideas? both builds are shown below.

Are you still within the ebay seller's return period? If so, I'd send it back for a refund.

 

I am and I was afraid that may be the case, but figured I'd start here just in case I was being dumb. So much for trying to save $15 on my dads build, I had a bad feeling from the beginning.

Arctic. You're not being "dumb" - you just tried to save a few bucks.

WD is usually a good brand. I'd stay away from Hitachi.
