Web site recreates Apollo 11 mission in real time.

Families crowded around black-and-white television sets in 1969 to watch Neil Armstrong take man's first steps on the moon.

Now, they'll be able to watch the Apollo 11 mission recreated in real time on the Web, follow Twitter feeds of transmissions between Mission Control and the spacecraft, and even get an e-mail alert when the lunar module touches down. Those features are part of a new Web site from the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum commemorating the moon mission and Kennedy's push to land Americans there first.

I missed the first one by a few years, but so far they haven't crashed this time! I'm joking, I watched the shuttle launch last night..

I had a teacher in 4th grade who was HUGE into NASA and the space program, unfortunately it meant the whole school watched the Challenger, but we also watched the other flights, and we would all gather in the gym and she'd have an astronaut on the phone and we'd get to talk to them and ask questions. It was pretty cool.

I was just looking at a NASA news conference where they are talking about restoring the slow-scan videos taken on the moon and the difference is amazing! Also, it's very interesting as to the history as how these signals were received and processed. The cleaned up complete video should be available by this Sept. Oh, the company doing the work is called Lowry Digital who have done some 400 movies to date and I'm sure you've seen some of them.

I just went and watched all the animations, it would have been awesome to see something like that unfolding. Hopefully we get there, or somewhere else again soon.
