We have leechers on our wireless network...

    ...and want to get rid of them, for obvious reasons.

    It's a home network, so securing files isn't that far up the priority list - I just want to stop the idjits next door from leeching our precious bandwidth!

    Any ideas/suggestions?

    Enable wep or wpa encryption. Change the admin password to your router to prevent them from making changes to your setup and follow these steps
    1. Change the default SSID (network name).
    2. Disable the SSID broadcast option.
    3. Change the default password needed to access a wireless device.
    4. Enable MAC address filtering.

    If another Wireless Signal is propagating in your reception area it might appear in your available Wireless Network. Nothing is wrong with this, Wireless technology works this way (the Air around us does not discriminate between signals).

    Using the measures of security is the step to insure that others Can Not Use your signal, and vice versa.
