Weak Sound On Fujitsu Laptop

    I have an old Fujitsu Lifebook U Series and the music plays weak and a bit strange. i don't think it was always like that.
    It has a Realtek High Definition Audio driver which looks O.K in Control Panel

    How does it sound with an external speaker plugged in? How about the sound through a headset?

    The sound through headphones is strong and good
    I have only one output jack for headphones

    So the driver is okay and the sound chip is working.

    Get yourself a cheap portable speaker and plug it into the headset jack, if you don't want to wear a headset all the time.
    I have several of these. I bought them for $5 or less.

    I bought them to use with my mp3 player in the car but they work just as well on our netbooks. (One netbook has 2 jacks and the other has 1 jack). I rip our movie DVDs and my husband plugs one in so he can hear the movie much better.
