Web application software

Hi there MGs,

I don't know if this is an appropriate question in this forum, but I am looking for a solution to a web application problem. I figure that there are bespoke applications 'out there', but I am not really sure how to find them. Perhaps someone here has the knowledge?

What I need is an application/ software that allows visitors to a website to upload files to a database, which can then be viewed by other visitors.

This sounds like a blog type application, I know, and I have looked at the functionality of Wordpress, but it doesn't quite match up.

This is for a website project similar to www.allrecipes.com (but not for food recipes, of course).

It is likely that I'm looking for a commercial package, maybe based on php, which can do the job.

Any ideas?

 

Forum software comes to mind. I believe all forum software allows uploading files, typically as an attachment, to forum posts.
