Web Encryption Software?

Hey all,

I go to a college that has many people accessing the wireless network. I use this network to access my email and other school related material. I also know that many of the students that attend my college are taking computer networking courses (like me). So basically i am worried about anyone being able to see my web activity and possibly getting my passwords.

So i want to know if there is any good tips or software that i can use to protect my web traffic? Like encryption.

Any help would be great.
