Web search stopped working

I have a pc here at work that i cant figure out. It has Vista business loaded.
Been work fine until the other day, typed something into the search and it sits for a few then errors out. Everything else works as it should. I have noticed that in the address bar, i can type in anything with correct address and it goes right to the page except google. It errors out the same as when i try doing a search. I have installed firefox and it does the same thing. Updated to IE8, no change, uninstalled 8, no change, went through settings and put all back to default with no change. I ran Malwarebytes, found nothing.
Im sure its just a simple thing but for the life of me, i cant figure it out. If anyone has any ideas other then tossing it out the window :-D, please let me know.
