I would like to set up a personal web server on my DSL. just something to let family view pages and i dont want too use my ISP. Whats a good server app for too set it up with. something simple would be preferable.

Apache (best run under UNIX :D)

Strog: how dare you recommend IIS? it's the buggiest thing in the world, ever looked at the IIS directory transveral exploits ? There are millions of 'em.

Run Apache, trust me..... IIS has so many directory transversal vulnerabitities as well other pretty bad "features" :)D) that I would recommend writing back packets caught on the wire over IIS :D

    Am i missing something??

Does your DSL have a static IP? My cable and most DSL does not so you could never resolve the IP address...

Also most if not all iSP's do not allow web servers on their systems.. will they find it? Probably not....\

Does your ISP provide free webspace? most do. just use that

If anyone has ways around the IP address issue, I am all ears cuz it might be fun to try this.

well, having a static IP depends on your ISP. Most cable companies run DHCP but I've had the same IP for the past 3 months. Prior to that, I had it for 9.
    about the IP resolving issue..
