webcams

I'm trying to setup my webcam as a baby monitor,i have a cam & a router but cant figure out how to view the cam on my pc from my laptop,i tried "view other devices on this network" but my pc was'nt on the list,can anyone help please?

 

I'm a little fuzzy on the scenario here. Can you elaborate? You have the webcam attached to the laptop? And, the laptop and a desktop computer are networked via a router, right?

Do you have printer and/or file sharing enabled? Do the two computers see each other on the network? Do they share an Internet connection via the router? Do you have a high speed Internet connection?

If the webcam is attached to the laptop, can you view it on the laptop? If so, what software are you using to do that?

Have you ever connected the webcam directly to the desktop computer? Did it work? What OS is on each computer?
