I was just in formed by my hosting provider that they are removing my site from their server for the following reason:

"Your site was disabled because it was basically crashing our server. Your
account was running a process called author. that was eating up 100% of the CPU on this machine. Your account will be reviewed within the next 7-10
business days for any credits due but we cannot continue to host it at this
    time."

I use Frontpage 2002 to create my webpages and have for the last 2 years, how is it that now there is a problem. More importantly what is the process Author? Is it a bug? I certainly did not create it, I only use Frontpage. Is this a problem with Frontpage? Do I need to find a certain type of hosting company?

How do I fix it and more importantly, how do I get back on the air?

I would say that the person that took down your webpage may not actually know what was causing the server to crash, and possibly may of taking all the webpages down on that particular machine. If the process was running at 100%, it could of either been a "Run-Away" process, or the server was possibly infected by a viral and the person suspected your directory as being the one.

Now the question comes to mind, does the hosting company run any kind of virus protection software on their servers, or just take the luck of the draw. I would end up finding another hosting company when it comes down to the fact that the company you where with was not the best option in the long run.

how big is your website? if you uploading a large FP website or recalculating links, that could eat up CPU like made especially if it's a big FP site.

It may have some 350 pages, but why should that matter if i have not used up all of my storage given to me. More importantly, I cannot believe mine would be the only site with that many pages. I see so many others with much more than what I have.

it's not space that is the problem, it's the amount of CPU that it takes to update your Front page website. 350 Pages is quite a bit. My recommendation is to start thinking about moving to the next stage and using a database to drive your site.
