website blocking

I have been trying to block a particular website and everything I have done so far has not worked. I have tried via "Host" file and "Content Adviser" via IE properties. In Content Adviser, rather than block just the issue site, I must use the password to enter any site. Therefore, any advice will be welcomed, or any leads on a freeware blocking utility. I have searched this web and forum and found no info. thank you in advance. My Browser is IE6, with Windows SP2

 

Have you tried this.
* Open Internet Explorer


* Click Tools then select Options


* Click on the Security tab


* Click on the Red Restricted Sites icon


* Click on the Sites button


* Type in the website that you want to block....in this case, ##$%#^.com and then click on the Add button


* Close all windows (you may have to restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect

I have yet to get my IE blocker to work via conventional methods including adding the site to the host file, but I did find a free utility that I installed and at this point it seems to preform the task that I am after. I cannot attest to the reliability nor the stability of the utility, but I am willing to give it a try for awhile.
