    Hello all,

Whenever My "WOT" (Web of Trust) comes-up with a "?" in its result, I'm lost these days trying to evaluate a website for integrity before I click on it or copy/paste it into my address bar.

Isn't there a website somewhere that checks or "ranks" the integrity of other websites please?

    Thanks in advance...

WOT has a user generated rating system. A (?) mark does not necessarily mean a dangerous site. It means the site has not been rated by a WOT user.
To be honest I find WOT to be fairly accurate. An unrated site leads me to be cautious and to investigate.
Any thing obvious would raise a WOT flag. One has to remember that even legit sites can get cracked. Last year Kaspersky was hosting ( for a short time) scare ware!!
McAfee site advisor, if I recall flagged MG's, much to the consternation of MA or TimW.

The idea is not to be paranoid, just cautious.

I didn't really consider this...I'm never sure if these things are done by human, or bot - thanks.

And I reported it here...I believe it was two-or-so years ago (will look-back through my posts when I get a chance).

And that is all I was attempting to do here...thanks again.

    Hi David!

Wow-thanks! Lots of info here...and yes, I rather hastily used the term; "ranks", though meant, "Rates" or "Reviews".

    Thanks again - be well... . . .

Avast 6 Anti-virus Free has a WebRep plugin that works with Firefox and Internet Explorer.
It is a community based rating system, similar to Web Of Trust.

This article is dated February 7, 2011. Avast 6.0.1367 is the current version.
AVAST Software will add reputation analysis to the upcoming 6.0

I showed the plugin installed for both IE and FF, but it was disabled and needs to be Enabled to be operative.

Not sure, but I think the plugin is installed by default when Avast is installed.

Just checked with my Free version of Avast and you need to manually install it, but then I do tend to custom install apps so I may have missed this out in a custom install, but it seems to work OK.

I remember reading about it when Avast's WebRep just came out and decided to pass it up at that time since it was very new and not many sites would have been rated by the community at that time.

In a days worth of surfing I have to say the Avast webrep is not so bad, whether I keep it is another thing as I hate additions to an web browser.

Same for me, oma. Always custom install.
Its sandbox was a tad confusing as well. Avast's, Admin's had questions on their forums and not too many answers, was still under development methinks. Maybe give it a go again and research. As of now, happy with MS Security Essentials.

    Cheers..

    And yet another
You can also enter the website name (EG: majorgeeks.com) at IP-address.com - IP Tracer and IP Locator
    http://www.ip-adress.com/whois/

Look down the page and copy the IP address for the website
Go to IPVoid and paste the IP address and then Scan Now
    http://www.ipvoid.com/

Or go straight to URLVoid but it doesn't seem to be so accurate or quick
    http://www.urlvoid.com/

I never do this on a day to day basis but it's handy to know, just in case ;)
