Searching Google for "bank" the first entry is Bank of America. Clicking on Bank of America gives me this error message: "www.bankofamerica.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again." Some of my bookmarks work but most don't in IE6 or foxfire.

Searching Google for ebay, I click on the first entry and get the ebay website but some of the squares are empty of information.

I'm running XP home edition SP2, IE6, Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4 and intel P4 1.8mhz 512 mb sdram 40 gb and 20 gb hard drives. Also Norton system works 2003 and spybot 1.3

    any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

What does you host table tell you?

    go to:

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc within here you should find hosts, open this file and what you should only have is:

    after all the #'s

    localhost 127.0.0.1

    are you on a proxy?

Also, bank of america's ip is this:

    171.159.65.173

    can you ping this?

START, RUN, type in cmd (press <enter>)
    type in:
    ping 171.159.65.173

If you get the following, you should be good on one part:

    Code:
Pinging www.global.bankofamerica.com [171.159.65.173] with 32 bytes of data:

      Reply from 171.159.65.173: bytes=32 time=60ms TTL=241

To thefool or anyone that can help: I was able to ping the BOA website. See my earlier response. I'am still getting the website "could not be found" error message. This problem started a few days ago when I deleted all my cookies and temporary files.

Any ideas on how to fix my problem would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks xopie
