website creation??

hey im wanting to ceate a website, nothing to insane just something for me to tinker on and a place to show of some artwork, so i was wondering what is the best way to create a website?? i used to know this but i never actually used the info, i checked a couple other forums and didnt see a thread like this srry if its in the wrong place.

Depending on traffic and ISP TOS, you have to decide whether to host at Home, or use a Hosting service.

GoDaddy & NVU was the way to go for me. I built my first website about four months ago.

To make things easier on yourself you can also use website templates, www.openwebdesign.org has hundreds to choose from. Most all of the templates at openwebdesign.org are XHTML with CSS ( Cascading Style Sheets ), a person needs to have an understanding of basic HTML ( Hypertext Markup Language ) and standard table layouts before attempting XHTML & CSS.
Building your own website can be very rewarding and it will take you to a whole new level of computer knowledge. I have hundreds of links in my bookmarks in a folder called "website tools", to many to list here but the links above will get any beginner started.
