Website development question..

I'm not a programer, but I want to buil a website. What application or service can I can use that will be the easiest, quickest and cheapest? Also, which host should I use. A friend reccomended Go Daddy and siad to use their tools.

cant give you alot of choices, but i've had no trouble with yahoo...
i've also heard go daddy is good too.

 

GoDaddy is cheap, good and thier customer service is really good on the domain name and email side. I have called in the past and have gotten cs reps who aren't just trained telephone answering people - they have actual knowledge. I have not had cause to call regarding their hosting because I host my own sites here at home.

When I first aquired domain names from GoDaddy, I attempted to use their site builder (Website Tonight, I believe). After using Adobe Dreamweaver and Microsoft Frontpage, it is so frustrating to use a web based website builder because making changes takes SO long, and you really won't be able to do even 1/2 of what you can do with DW.

There are a ton of free software downloads though - I would recommend checking the user ratings at cnet or whatever user review site you like best first. Adobe does offer free trials on all of their products. I wouldn't recommend Frontpage just because the company that makes it doesn't even use it - says a lot, I think.
