Website forwarding timeframe?

Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but going to give it a shot anyway. Helping a friend with a website thru godaddy. Main server went offline and we are trying to do a 302 temporary redirect to a location for the time being.

I made the redirect change thru godaddy's interface a few hours ago. Is there a general timeframe that it takes for the changes to take affect and the new location to start working, or do you just have to wait it out?

Also you might want to call them and check that redirect is enabled for that website, just to be sure.
