Before Dell had me reformat everything, I would save bookmarks and the icon that appears next to the website address in the address bar would appear in the saved bookmark. This no longer occurs. There is just a standard image of a piece of paper next to each website address. The other was more appealing. How do I reinstate this feature?

 

Are they all missing, or only some? Have you visited the site since your format?

 

yeah i find the icons come back after you revisit the site from bookmarks

 

Is this during an upgrade? Or during casual usage of the same version of FF? What version of FF are ye using?

 

This reformat was done in response to issues I had with the computer and Itunes, long story. Lost lots of data. Learned lessons about thorough backups. Anyways, this is a fresh install of Firefox 1.5.0.4. What site are you referring to that I should visit?

 

The sites in your bookmarks, link to them from your bookmarks, the next time you look the icons should be back, probably maybe i hope

playing with this more, am I understanding correctly? The icon does not appear when you initially set up the bookmark? Only appears after you visit the site a 2nd time?

 

Yep, when you make a bookmark it gets a generic icon. When you use the bookmark to visit the bookmarked page, the specific icon (favicon) is added.
