Hosting is all a matter of opinon, generally any good hosting company on the net should have only a small amount of bad reviews. I used to do webhosting support as you may know lev. Really its a matter of finding someone you are happy with, hosting it self for a small site is really a dime a dozen they are so many hosting companies out there. Its really more of an issue when a site reaches the size of majorgeeks or what not. Godaddy is by far probably the most popular register by far. Nothing bad to say about them. For most small sites you shouldn't end up paying more then 10-15 a month. Let me know if you have any other questions. You know how to get ahold of me. :)

I really love dreamhost.com, they increase your size limit every month and they have good prices for what they offer. Haven't had a problem with them ever.

As Colemanguy said, there are many hosting companies. We could have scores of replies here each recommending a different hosting service. I doubt anyone can really claim one to be best and support that claim.

I use the one I mentioned. I think some good points about it are:

    1. Starter Plan, which adequate for many small sites, is only $4/mo.
    2. No commitment to a lengthy contract. You can just pay month-by-month from the very beginning and drop them anytime you want.
    3. No initial setup fees.
    4. A support forum.

Thanks for all your inputs :) Greatly appreciated.

This is for my son-in-laws business so not a big site like MGs is anticpated, at least not for the first few years ;)

Cman - might just take you up on that offer, thanks; and maybe some additional design advice too :)

Domain now purchased at GoDaddy.com :-D Thanks for the heads up folks!

Now I am wanting to get him running with a basic webpage. I'm familiar with Dreamweaver, but want to keep my options open as to what it the best and most simple way to create the website for his business with minimized html programming knowledge. Also cost effectiveness on any software apps would be prefered.

Suggestions, crew? Already picked up on http://net2.com/nvu/ from other threads.
