All of our users are using IE7 and not able to go to IE8 yet. Firefox it also works. I have found a website someone is trying to get to for work purposes but not able to get to it due to using IE7. The website is www.nfpservices.com. It's a secure website as well. I thought maybe there was a windows update that would fix this but so far have not found anything. Any ideas?

    IE 6.0 = Works
    IE 8.0 = Works

I am installing IE7 to check it, but i guess the problem is the navigator.
Why?: Because if it works in a older IE version and the newest, it obviously ought work in IE7, i design websites, and i have not see a code what works in IE6 and not IE7.

You talk about many people, it only occurs in 1 computer? You tried to open the website in other computer with IE7?

Tell me more and i will help you.

I got more updates on this. I have 2 computers IE8 works. I have found 2 computers IE8 does not work so it's not an IE8 thing like I thought. I have tried on 4 computers total. All computers the website opens in firefox as well. It's a windows or IE thing but not sure where.

    Sir, you have to specify.

As i can understand, all the computers are under the same network.

I'll describe as i can imagine your network, but you must tell me how it really is.

    Look the image and draw your own;

If you don't know your network structure, do not worry i'll still helping you.

They are all under the same network however I am able to connect to another network that goes through a backup cable modem and get the same results. I know pretty much know everything to know about our network and thought that at first as well till I did some testing off the network. I don't believe this is a problem on our network for that reason. I believe this is a component within each machine which is missing on some.

Well, when is started publishing websites i had a similar error, some internet clients can not reach the website.

I had a website in a folder with a public IP, a DNS from TK pointing to that folder.

So the users do not target the folder, they target the TK site who redirect. That web was working on IE but in Mozilla do not.

    Try this first,

    Start>Run> CMD

Do a NSLOOK UP to the website you mentioned.

so it's like: NSLOOK UP google.com

It will give you 2 ip's (maybe more) depending of your network, the last one is the site and his IP.

Try to do ping to that IP in every machine, if the ping works we are talking about software problem, if ping does not work we are talking about network problem.

Try to do that and tell me.

    Here's what I got:

My machine that does not work:
    H:\>nslookup nfpservices.com
    Server: xxxxxxx
    Address: xxxxxxxxx
    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: nfpservices.com
    Addresses: 198.242.42.40, 207.19.80.40

I cannot ping either of these public ip addresses.

On the machine I can open the website which is currently on another network:

    H:\>nslookup nfpservices.com
    Server: xxxxxxxx
    Address: xxxxxxxxx
    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: nfpservices.com
    Addresses: 207.19.80.40
    198.242.42.40

I cannot ping either of the addresses from this machine as well.

Both of these networks do use the same ISP is the only thing I have in common. However some machines can do it and some cannot.

Well, of course can be configuration too, if you use a proxy, set a rule to that IP in "proxy configuration--lan settings" put the website as secure, and put the ip in the exception.

I actually did that however the proxy server is only on our network and does not block https websites. I also have a static bypass on the proxy for my machine so that is not it.

==>>It maybe is cache, the webserver did a change and the workstations do not see it<===

Clean cookies, temp, cache from IE and try again, as you can see many problems are produced there too.

    cmd > ipconfig /dnsflush

If do not works do some clean homework, look if it is not a virus.

Check the pc's with "microsoft antimalware", "run a hijack and paste the log in their website".

    ============
    EDIT

You can also add the website in the host file :

    cmd > drivers
    >etc : hosts [edit with notepad]

add the website and ip in the list. Maybe DNS can not resolve it too.

I've tried resetting web settings cookies, internet files, temp directory. Every machine this works in firefox. Must be an issue with IE or windows component that works with IE. I am looking to see if I can find a different on the machines but haven't found any. We patch our own machines so they are pretty similiar in windows updates as well.

I have not the slightest idea about it. We have tried basics, now, can you tell me:

    - If navigator (IE this case) arrive to the website but do not display any information (seems like the website loaded but shows in blank the website)

    - Any IE error?

    -Specific internet explorer version please, now im using Example;
    IE 8.0.6001.18702
