So far I've used Netscape 7.1, the Latest Avant, IE 6, Opera 7, and PhastOut. Everything but Phaseout won't work properly. I'll try to download (anything, anywhere) and it says: the object has been blocked. They also wont load yahoo games (shows frame, but no content). Java and java script are enabled in all. I've tried un/re install of everything, but that doesn't work. Anybody have any suggestions? :(

Not sure what else to include...

    are you running a firewall?

for the Java applet programs, try the latest JVM from Sun. http://java.sun.com

I'll bet that's a BINGO! If you have a firewall or Norton Internet Security, let us know and let's look at the settings.

well, you really only get that message when a firewall of some type is active.

Yah, well, it's extremely easy to change a setting without noticing.

Which VERSION and which TYPE of ZA? Free/Plus/Pro?

EDIT: We're outta sync here, Mr. K, so I'm gonna step out.

Just a parting shot: Are you absolutely sure the XP Home firewall is OFF?

(And we need the version number of ZA.)

OK. I'll have to get back to you in the morning. Two necessary things: update (not upGRADE) ZA, and shut down XP's native fwall, if it's on. I think those'll do it for you.

There are some BAD known glitches in 530, so you need to get 538. I'll help if help is needed. Be careful. It's easy to wind up with the trial version of the payware model. And choose Clean Install when it asks. That'll remove 530 before it puts 538 in.

And I have to look up where they hide the fwall. Long time no see. May have been preset on by your vendor.

    You on dial-up or broadband?

    Tomorrow, Dude.
(Anybody else want to jump in? Welcome!) ;)

check if xp firewall is on by

    start
    control panel
    network connections
    right click
    then properties
    then the advanced tab
    then make sure is off

You have zone alarm so both on might be conflicting

    edit

One more thing. upgrade to the new zone alarm.

OK. Just watch the links and switches in the download pages and the installation proggie, cuz they give you half a dozen chances to choose the free trial instead of the freeware version -- on purpose or by accident.

And at the start of the installation somewhere, they'll ask whether your old settings are very important or whether you want a clean installation with ZA's own basic settings. The latter, by all means, even though you'll have to put up with a few popups later to set the thing. Your *settings* wd be fine, but if you don't do the CLEAN install, some of the old version *files* will stick, and that's no good atall, atall.

Good luck -- and come back if you need to (especially if this double whammy -- offing the XP wall and updating the real wall -- doesn't do the trick).

(Oh, and THANKS, endiablado! I had to cut out there for a while.)
