    Hello everyone,
I've spent probably around 7 or 8 hours on this so far...basically, I can use my web browser, download and upload files, and can log onto some services but not others.
For example, I cannot logon to steam, or sync with my google drive which is downloaded to the desktop. I can connect to battle.net though (Blizzard games gaming platform). I have run every single fix program I could think of...here's a list of what I have done, and a log from netadapter:
    Winsock reset (using winsockreset utility)
system restored to a month ago (everything was working yesterday)
    Ran all fixes in:
    windows repair (from tweaking.com)
    ccleaner
    fixwin2
    netadapter repair 1.2
ran AV scans with AVG, Malwarebytes, superantispyware
I've also gone through and reset everything on the firewalls, tried running the software with windows firewall turned off, tried running with AV on and off...I've reinstalled Steam and drive for desktop, all to no avail!
I then tried to refresh and windows said it was missing some files...probably from ccleaner or something.
Here's the log from netadapter: (pinging IP didn't work, pinging DNS did, not sure if that's relevant)

Also, the network troubleshooter tells me: "The device or resource (web proxy) is not set up to accept connections on port "8080"

According to your netadapter report all three of your network adapters are disabled, so you should not be able to connect at all. Can you directly check the state of the adapters in Network and Sharing Center?

Yes, they have to be, but that's not what the netadapter report says. What does ipconfig /all say?

You are using two wifi adapters - is this a piggy back arrangement meant to extend the router range? If so the piggy back adapter should have DHCP disabled and should have a fixed IP address. I would initially temporarily disconnect Wi-Fi and see how the connection then behaves.

Is it the same when using a different browser?

This problem only happens in Steam, Google Drive, and chat services. I can browse the internet in all browsers, but I can't sync google desktop, I can't access steam, I can't download updates either. I attempted to update to 10 but before it downloaded anything it said it couldn't connect. The odd thind is that I can logon to battle.net and play hearthstone, and I can access microsofts website and download files, but can't use windows update.

I don't use Steam, Google Drive or chat so I don't think I can help, but hope someone else can.

So, I fixed it! Well...malwarebytes antirootkit fixed it. Corrupted some wireless stuff...

It was looking like malware with its selective behaviour but I ruled it out as you had just restored an image trying to correct it. Seems the image didn't restore the boot sector, which it should. What sort of image was it?
