Weird error message when installing notation program.

Dear Anyone.

I'm trying to install Quick Score Elite, which is a music writing notation program.

When I try to install it, I get the following message:

An error -5003: 0xB7 has occurred while running the setup Please make sure you have finished any previous setup.

I have not been setup-ping anything else!!

Now I've contacted Sion, who make the software, and they tell me it's a 'file locked' message, BUT they don't tell me how to detect WHICH file is locked WHERE on the computer - and there's quite a lot of files to choose from on this comp!!

Do you know of any technique/software that will find ALL the locked files on the computer and display the LOT at once, in a list? Or if there's another answer, feel free to say.

a notation program as in a way to write music with midi sounds

if you are looking for a program (in case the one you are using can't run period) that can write music i would reccommend anvil studios

although you have to purchase some parts of the program (like printing and/or viewing sheet music from a midi or a midi file made by the program)

and if you want to view the sheet music to the song you have written theres a program that is simply called notation player (it calls itself the free version because you can't make the music with the program but you can select which instruments to view on the sheet music, only one instrument at a time)

Thanks, I've done that - but I'd still like to find out WHICH file is locked because the Sion Quick Score program is a LOT like the Music Maestro - by Voyetra Turtle Beach - program I've got already, so the learning curve won't be as steep! I WILL practice with the Anvil Studio one, it's very kind of you, I hadn't heard of that one.

If it helps you or anyone else, Music Maestro came up with a similar error message when I tried to install it for the first time and it turned out that the font file it uses - Mozart, it makes letters come up as musical symbols - was locked. But I've tried reinstalling Mozart before having another go at installing Quick score. Music Maestro works like a dream, Quickscore comes up with the same error message whether or not Mozart is in the font file so I'm thinking it's something else this time around.

I WILL try out Anvil Studio, though. I love writing music but I just prefer notation to keyboards, it's how I was taught.

well one thing about anvil is that it's only designed to write music from a keyboard (piano) plugged into a midi port in the sound card (or anywhere else like a usb plug but it still is a very impressing program i have enjoyed it to this day)

 

I've got a suggestion mate,

there is a simple program that 'might' do what you are asking - it does unlock specific files, its called 'unlocker' now - it is not designed specifically for what you are asking but it can unlock files from system memory

my suggestion would be to visit this website: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

download the app / install it.

then run it - and right click on any folder / file you think may be 'locked' and go down to where it says 'unlocker' and click on it - if it is locked it will tell you so, if not - move on =D
