Weird Google Chrome Problem

Hi People,

I have just observed a weird thing with Google Chrome. Don't know what it is. I usually click on the desktop icon which is named "google chrome" but after i closed the program, i noticed the the icon was renamed to "popo" just like that.

Questions:
1. What the hell is that? Is it a virus, spyware or something?
2. What to do?

Scan your whole system with your installed Anti-Virus program (making sure it is fully up to date first), and then separately with something like MalwareBytes Anti-Malware:

Run it in its 'Perform Quick Scan' first, and a 'Complete Full' scan after if it finds anything, or you want to be sure.
The freeware version is scan/clean only so it's fine to have.
And run 'CCleaner - Slim No Toolbar' in its 'Run Cleaner':

and then its 'Registry > Scan For Issue > FIX All issues' enough times till the scan finds '0' issues (but click 'ok' to back ups each time).

I use ccleaner all the time and i just finished running AVG and aVAST anti-virii. And all the scans came back with nothing. Talk about weird.

In fact it isn't a good idea to have both of them actually installed on your system together at all. Neither of them are really built for use as second line, non real time scanners
The reason I suggested you use MalwareBytes is for two reasons:
1. Unless you buy it, it will *not* install any processes or services on your system that will cause conflict but *can* be used for effective second line scanning.
2. It scans differently to AVG or Avast and is likley to find things they will *not* as it is not based on definitions alone, and recognises malware behaviour in a way that makes it probably the best utility of its kind.

If it was my system, I would fully and cleanly remove either AVG or Avast! and then install and run MalwareBytes.

Having your Chrome shortcut icon change to 'Poop' sounds malware related to me and I wouldn't be satisfied with just AVG/Avast scans as they are.

Wow, what would happen if two anti-virii were installed? I had both installed in real time mode and they ran at the same time together. I uninstalled Avast after though.

Anyways here is what happened. I noticed the following: I don't know if it serves any importance. The computer has 4 user accounts on it and is running Windows Vista. When i right click on google chrome and other icons, clicked on Properties, and then the security tab, i saw all the users plus an unknown account named "UNKNOWN (hfdsj-fhuerfhjdsbfjdsb-cndsffbndbfghdsjdsbv-hjncdgj" with a red question mark next to it.
Any thoughts?

After, I uninstalled Avast and installed Malwarebyte Anti-malware and conducted a scan that came back with no results. Then when i restarted, out of the blues, none of the user accounts were working except the Admin. Any thoughts here as well?

This may definitely be malware. Very sophisticated as well if i may say.

Just a heads up. You should never have those two installed or run at the same time. They only cause conflict just like others as well. Also have you tried scanning with more then just those programs for malware? http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 go there and try cleaning your computer out.
