weird internet connection

hi MG fourm, long time reader first time poster here. first off thanks to all you that posted here you guys have helped me out every time ive had computer problems.

now its not a problem ive got just some weird stuff happening.

i have a small setup, 2 computers networked through a modem router so they can share files and internet connection. i have a slow internet connection 22k is normally the download speed i get. the other day i downloaded a 50mb file on one computer and saw the speed rocket up to 200k i didnt take much notice at first but it only took a few mins to download the file. i tested on another file same speed 200k. now the weird thing is if i go to the other computer i only get 22k which is what im ment to get.

what is 1 computer getting 10x faster internet then i pay for. and why isnt it on both machines?

im stumped you guys got any ideas

 

you may need to update the modem driver. Also you should check the security programs, do they use the same antivirus and firewall software ? It could be a signal reception problem as well.

 

I would take two guesses as what you have, the second being the most likely

1. Some ISP's have an accelerator or "boost" just for downloading files.
2. Your faster computer has a download manager / accelerator on it that really works well!
