Weird Power supply

Well today I bought the truepower 2.0 430w. and as i oppened the box up i noticed it was diff. from my old power supply..and i have a Dell Dimmension 4550, and so i was going to cuz out a hole on the back side of my tower to put in the new power supply. Well, i noticed there was only 1 fan, and that was on the top side, and where u plugg in the power was alot of wholes..so i was wondering, what does the top fan do, and if i installed the fan, if it would hurt or damage my computer, and i have a Intel Pentium Processor 4. as my motherboard...But my main question is how does it get Fresh air, when theres only 1 fan and its on the top, where the hard shell is, where there it would get no air. Please help.

 

i could be wrong but does'nt the dimension 4550 have a micro ATX form factor??

the antec trupower is ATX12V compliant.

so your mobo takes a 20 pin connector and your power supply has 24 pins...

i dunno if they would work well together withought some modding


****edit*** my bad..... micro ATX does take 24 pin

is your motherboard the intel BOXD845GERG2???

The Antec Truepower 2.0 430w PSU does not have fan on the top, if it is you mounted upside down! (yes they have 24 pin but is 20 pin compatitable 4 of them unclip for the 20pin MOBO's)
The Fan faces down towards the CPU.
I dont think you can use it for your Dell.

For your Dell ya might have to get a PSU from Dell as they are wired different than standard PSU's.

 

always do some research before buying hardware! you will be surprised how many incompatibilities there are out there! return ur power supply and get ur money back if u can!
