Can anyone tell me why installing IPX/SPX would solve my "insufficient administrator privilege" errors? I get these errors doing things such as ScanDisk, Defragment, changing network connections, etc.

*Note: When I get these messages, I am logged in as myself. But if I get our net admin here to log in as Administrator, I can run these apps.

*Another Note: The server here is running Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1. All workstations and laptops run Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2

Scandisk, Defragment, has nothing to do with IPX or any other Network protocols.

If all permissions and File Sharing are set correctly, and while using Network Connections you get this error, installing an additional Network Protocol might serve as Band Aid solution.

Eventually you would have to reinstall the TCP/IP Stacks to clean up the mess.

This isn't an error or problem. You simply do not have administrator privileges on your user account. You'll have to take it up with your local IMO or network admin guy to help you out with this, which I'm sure it's like that for a reason, so I doubt he'll give you the privileges.

PS: I'm sorry, cat5e, but that reply seems totally incoherent. Network protocols and the TCP/IP stack have absolutely nothing to do with user privileges. No offense though.

Hmmm.. this line is Not clear?

Scandisk, Defragment, has nothing to do with IPX or any other Network protocols.

The second paragraph states that it related to: "while using Network Connections you get this error".

Basically, what this boils down to is this problem he's having it not network related problem. He just doesn't have any privileges to install/modify software on his user profile. He needs to create or have his network admin guy add his user account to the local admin group on his PC or at least make him a "power user" so he can have partial admin privileges.

I guess what I meant to say in the original post is that this never happened before to anyone who logged into the network. Then one day something happened (we are unsure what that something is) and now everyone has this error on every computer.
