Lately my pc just stops responding, I have cable internet, but when I leave the pc for a while, sometimes when I come back it has stopped responding, so I try to restart it and it won't do anything, power comes on, but it doesn't even begin to start up, just a blank screen. The only remedy that I've found is to remove the battery and reinstall it then the pc starts fine and operates fine, except that i have to reset the clock for "Go Back" to work. Any Ideas what's going on, this is an older PC running Win ME.

Have you done the basics disk cleanup and defragment?

you may find this usefull--if not it is still good reading if you run ME

Yeah, I keep it pretty clean, it's weird that it just started doing it and has to have the battery removed and replaced to get it to start. Just wondered if it could be something in the Mother Board.

Something is eating up your cpu slowing everthing to am crawl, i would go to the malware section and go thru them steps, i think you got a bug in there. ed
