Recently had a mobo go bad on a server that had 2 onboard nic's. Got a replacement and installed it, no problem. First windows load after the replacement, it finds the new onboard nics, again no problem. Reboot again, go into nic properties and staticly configure nic's with correct info. They seem to be functioning correctly and can see the entire network structure and clients can connect to the server.

Here's the issue. These new onboard nics are showing up as Adapter #3 and Adapter #4 and are the only ones viewable in Network properties. Occasionally I will get timeout errors when running backups on one of the nic's. I am pretty sure Windows stll sees the first two adapters and that is causing me some issues.

How can I find and delete Adapter #1 and Adapter #2, since they are obviously no longer in the system but still being detected somehow by Windows?

Hi BluesMan, I beleive if you bring up that machine in safe mode and open the device manager it will list drivers for devices that have been installed and no longer physically exist. You should be able to delete them from there. You might even want to just delete all the nics there and let windows re detect the ones you have. That should clear up any conflicts.............
