What the hell is that huge grey space with the red carrot top in my mozilla?

How do I get rid of it? (Btw the text "what the hell is this?" was written in by me.

Similar problems crop up from time to time, generally happens when a bad extension update is released. Recently, TabBrowser Preferences has caused quite a few cases. To diagnose, simply disable extensions one at a time until it goes away, then you've found the culprit. Check for a newer update to the extension, good chance a fix is already available.
