OK, I've searched through Dell and this and other forums and I can't find any helpful info.

I am working with a Dell Dimension 4700 and a Dell Dimension 3000 plus two Dell Laser 1700 printers and a Canon MP730 all-in-one plus two different USB cables. Both PCs have Win XP SP3.

To keep things simple, I am using all as local printers.

I am not having any problems with the Canon. XP recognized it as a plug-n-play device after I uninstalled the printer and it reinstalled it.

As for the Dell printers, XP does not recognize them as plug-n-play, will not print to them and furthermore any open programs freeze when I connect either printer to either PC with either cable.

Any suggestions? Any more info required? Thanks in advance, and I will keep searching.
